Young Arts provides children and young people with exciting opportunities to become involved in creative arts activities. We encourage and support Young Arts projects undertaken by local schools, colleges and youth groups. In our work with young people we aim to build a lasting enthusiasm for the arts and an awareness of arts heritage and its conservation.
National Art Society A level Art Competition 2025/26
Six exhibits from Bishop’s Stortford College 'A' level students work were chosen by our society and entered into the National Art Society 25/26 ‘A’ Level Online Art Competition. The exhibits entered can be seen in the photograph alongside on display for our members last year. At the end of March 2026 the results of the competition were announced in the National Art Society's newsletter. Although unfortunately none of the splendid exhibits we entered were chosen as the final winner(s), we are very proud to report that one of the exhibits named ‘Architecture' was shortlisted as one of the finalists and we send our congratulations to Imogen Pham a pupil at BSc for this commendable achievement. The winning entries can be seen on the National Art Society's website.

Young Curators Community Project
The Community grant provided by the National Art Society to our society at Bishop’s Stortford was allocated to a Young Curators project at Bishop’s Stortford Museum located in South Mill Arts. With the donation, Janet Shepherd the Young Curators Out Reach Co-ordinator purchased a digital photo screen and stand which enabled the Young Curators to work with the types of resources that would resonate with their generation and future museum customers. They focussed on an18th century painting loaned to the museum and we would cordially invite all members to visit the museum to view the Young Curators analysis of the painting produced and displayed on the screen near the painting. Please see attached photograph below.
At our April 2026 meeting prior to our lecture, Janet presented to our members the objectives of the Young Curators programme at the museum and the benefits they had obtained from the sponsored project. A printed version of this presentation can be viewed at our next meeting on the information table.
